Okay.. Time for True Confessions:
I have struggled with staying slim my entire life.. from about age 13.
I didn't really start to put on the pounds until about the age of 16 or
so. I had stopped my sport of choice, ice skating, (which I had
been doing for about 7 hours per day) and had moved on to cheerleading.
Somehow, those things kept the reality of my poor eating habits at bay. I was able to eat as
much as I wanted and not think too much about it. Once cheerleading was
over, and I concentrated on the arts and academics, the pounds took
over. I struggled over ways to lose and keep the weight off, but
never really succeeded. It wasn't until I was about 23 I wandered
into a Weight Watchers meeting, and I was finally taught how to manage my
diet - without sacrificing the foods I enjoyed! I learned about
the food groups, healthy eating, what was necessary to keep my body
sustained and feeling good, and so much more. But the most
important thing of all - I was given the tools to lose weight at ANY
time in my life, if things ever got a little out of control - and KEEP
the weight off! It was so liberating and so amazing! I was able
TWICE in my life to lose over 30 pounds! The first time, out of
sheer need, the second after the birth of my son, when the pounds
stubbornly wouldn't come off! I am now a
lifetime member of Weight Watchers, and have not struggled with being
